Elias designed the two door base with one inner shelf for his wife Edith to house her working shoes as shoes were extremely expensive at that time as they had no money so they had to last. The bookcase top followed shortly, held in position by gravity. The base has a curvilinear design on the bottom of each side to match the top (not shown). This clever but simple design permits this to be used as two separate pieces or as a timeless, versatile furnishing. This was his first executed furniture design. Oil finish, no stain. Base 29" wide x 26.75" tall x 13.5"+ depth. Bookcase 51" tall x 27.5" wide x 9.75" / 8.25" graduated ascending depth
